Bringing together three sculptural maquettes—a Malayan bear, YOUwe., and FFC.—this work creates a composition of forms originally conceived for different artworks.

A maquette is not merely a scaled-down version of a finished sculpture. It is where sculptural thought first takes shape: where outline, posture, distance from space, and the possibility of an encounter with people are considered.

By placing these three figures—each originally intended for a different time and place—alongside one another, the work creates a new site of encounter between the sculptures themselves. The idea embedded in YOUwe.—that we can be together while respecting each person as a singular individual—extends here across the relationships between humans and animals, between one individual and another, and between different works.

Once on their way toward separate completed works, these small sculptures now face, respond to, and begin to form a public of their own.
